When we share our stories with one another, we are sharing part of ourselves – what’s important to us; what moves us to laughter or tears; what has impacted our life in some way. We engage the mind of the receiver in a mental and emotional dialogue. We plant seeds, seeking common ground, insights, and empathy to connect us.
Everyone has stories: funny, happy, sad, heart-warming, scary. In sharing them we open the door to new understandings, altered perceptions and sometimes, without even realizing it, we heal ourselves and others in the process. Whatever is shared from the heart is a gift to those it is shared with.
