In this video Geena Davis explains how she was determined to be cast as the confident Louise, instead of insecure Thelma. During Geena’s interview with director, Ridley Scott, she recalls how she made a well rehearsed and logical case to be cast as Louise.
Ridley asked her if she would consider playing Thelma. Fortunately, she had an instant change of heart and said she would play either role. Later on, when Geena met Susan Sarandon for the first time, she knew that the right decision had been made to cast Susan in the role of Louise.
